ZS-CHEM Crop Technology Department and International Trade Department Launch Field Trial on "Green Strengthening" of Sarchimor Coffee Seedlings in Laos
On 10th July , a joint team from the Crop Technology Department and the International Trade Department of ZS-CHEM arrived in Paksong County, located on the Bolaven Plateau – the heart of Laos' coffee-growing region – to officially initiate a field trial of the plant growth regulator on Sarchimor coffee seedlings, focusing on "green strengthening." This trial aims to verify the product's effectiveness in promoting robust seedling growth and to provide a scientific regulation solution for the coffee seedling industry in Laos and Southeast Asia.
Sarchimor is an excellent coffee variety, derived from a cross between the Arabica variety Villa Sarchi and the rust-resistant Timor variety. It is known for its strong resistance to leaf rust, compact plant structure, and high, stable yields. The Bolaven Plateau, with its volcanic soils and elevations ranging from 1,000 to 1,350 meters, is a premier coffee-producing area in Southeast Asia. In recent years, the Lao government has actively promoted the upgrading of its coffee industry. Seizing this opportunity, the company's Crop Technology Department and International Trade Department have jointly launched this "green strengthening" project targeting the critical seedling stage of Sarchimor coffee. The trial will gather local agronomic data and provide field evidence to support both product application and market expansion in the region.
The trial is a collaborative effort between the two departments. The Crop Technology Department is responsible for trial design, technical guidance on product application, and data collection and analysis. The evaluation will focus on the effects of PGR on seedling strengthening – including promoting thicker stems, more developed root systems, and healthier leaves – to build a solid foundation for future transplanting and field growth. Key indicators such as seedling height, stem diameter, leaf count, and biomass will be systematically recorded. Meanwhile, the International Trade Department coordinates with local plantations, agricultural cooperatives, and government agencies to understand market needs and facilitate the future registration and promotion of the product in Laos and other Southeast Asian countries. Technical experts from both departments will remain on-site throughout the trial to ensure all procedures are carried out properly.

The launch of this field trial marks a solid step forward for ZS-CHEM in both applied research on coffee crops and market development in Southeast Asia.
