Effect of Prohexadione Calcium on Seedling Excessive Vegetative Growth Control of Tomato

Tomato fruit is rich in nutrition, taste sour and sweet, loved by consumers. When planting tomato, tomato seedlings are prone to thin and large leaves, long and slender petioles, light leaves, thin and tall plants, and underdeveloped roots. Once the tomato seedlings grow vigorously, it will affect the later flowering and fruit setting, resulting in low yield, inconvenient management, and seriously affecting the income of growers. Therefore, it is essential to control the prosperity of tomatoes. Reasonable control scheme can transfer tomato seedlings from vegetative growth to reproductive growth, which is beneficial to the expansion of tomato fruit and the growth of new roots.
In order to verify the effect of Prohexadione Calcium on tomato, ZS-CHEM crop-tech team conducted a Prohexadione Calcium tomato seedling control experiment in W/B 5F, International Business Center, Zhengzhou, in October 2021.
Prohexadione Calcium on Seedling Excessive Vegetative Growth Control of Tomato
Test time and place: September 30, 2021, W/B 5F, International Business Center, Zhengzhou
Crop variety: tomato
Test product: 15 % Prohexadione Calcium
Test method: The first treatment is during the 4-5 euphylla period of the tomato seedling, spray stem and leaf. And the second spray is performed on October 8, 2021. The plant height (ground to growth point) of tomato was measured on the day, 7 days and 21 days after treatment.
Test result: plant height growth of tomato seedlings treated with ZS-CHEM scheme was significantly lower than that of the control. 29 days after treatment, the plant height of the Prohexadione Calcium treatment was 21.5cm, the plant height of the control was 30.17cm, and the plant height growth of the treatment and the control were 12.67cm and 21.75cm respectively. There were significant differences in plant height and plant height growth between ZS-CHEM scheme treatment and the control. As can be seen from FIG. 1, the plant height growth in the treatment area of ZS-CHEM scheme was significantly lower than that of the control, and the growth control effect was better. The experiment proved that ZS-CHEM scheme could effectively control the plant height of tomato seedlings and had no adverse effect on their growth.

Tomato Seedling Vegetative Growth Control needs to pay attention to multiple control and dosage. When the tomato seedlings grow vigorously, it is difficult to control by spraying one time, and it needs two or even three times. The amount of control agent is also critical, if the concentration is too high, will control excessive. Therefore, the tomato control time should not be too late, the control concentration should not be too high, recommended 50-150mg / L spraying control, and reasonable control mode can bring high quality and high yield of tomato.
